Pupils should better take daily:
Vegetables: 3-5 portions each day. For example, one cup of chopped lettuce or cabbage, half a cup of fresh peas or okra can be accounted as one portion of vegetables.
Fruit: 2-4 portions each day. For example, ½ a cup of chopped fruit, ¾ a cup of fresh juice or one medium-size apple, pear or banana can be accounted as one portion of fruit.
Cereals: 6-11 portions each day. For example, one portion of cereals equals one slice of bread, 1/3 a cup of rice or pasta, or approximately 3 PAPADOPOULOS PETIT-BEURRE wholegrain biscuits, 2 pieces of PAPADOPOULOS Cream Crackers Wheat or 4 Miranda PAPADOPOULOS biscuits.
Proteins: 2-3 portions each day.For example, one portion of proteins may contain 90g of lean meat or chicken or fish or half a cup of pulses or one egg.
Dairy products: 2-3 portions each day. For example, one portion equals one cup of milk, one cup of yoghurt, 45 g cheese.
The total of food is to be distributed in five meals, applicable to children as well as to adults. Children coming back from school usually look for a snack. This is not an unhealthy habit, according to the American Paediatric Society. They just have to find something healthy with nutritious calories to eat.
